Home Health Driving Patient Monitoring

Home Health Driving Patient Monitoring

Hospitals are under many cost constraints, which means that any product designed for hospital care alone will grow slowly.  Products designed for dual purposes have a far greater chance at fast revenue growth.  So it is with patient monitoring, according to Kalorama’s analysis, recently quoted in a recent article in Investor’s Business Daily.  Patient monitoring in the United States should nearly double by 2017, according to Kalorma Information, and it will do so in a combination of sales to hosptials and sales to users at home or in a nursing home.    Kalorama identifies hospitals as the bulik of the market, but home usage will provide the bulk of the revenue growth in the market.

Hospital monitoring systems account for the largest segment of the market,
however are beginning to feel pressure from the home/mobile segment--telemedicine.
Home health is becoming a larger driver of the market with a sizable portion of the patient
monitoring segment now derived from this area.
